MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team picked up 85-87 road victory at Pfeiffer University Wednesday.
Pfeiffer held a 25-15 lead nine minutes into the first half before the Pride offense began to come alive. After
Kevon Meertins hit a layup to cut the Pride deficit to eight, Greensboro went on a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the contest on a
Keyford Langley driving layup.
After Greensboro took the lead, the Falcons were able to mount a 6-0 run to establish a 31-26 lead with 6:22 showing on the clock but Greensboro closed out the half on a 15-8 run to take a 46-38 lead into the break.
Following halftime, the Pride was able to extend their lead to 55-44 over the first four minutes of the second half, but Pfeiffer was able to battle back with a 12-0 run over the next three minutes to regain the lead.
Over the next 12 minutes, the two teams traded the lead back and forth before
Greyson Collins hit four straight free throws over the final 22 seconds to secure the eight-point victory.
Langley finished the game with a team-leading 21 points on seven-of-11 shooting, while Meertins (19), Collins (13), and
Eric Peaks Jr. (12) also finished in double figures.
Michael Phifer also had a strong game as he posted a double double of 13 points and 15 rebounds.
