STAUNTON, Va. – The Greensboro College women's basketball team saw their five-game USA South Athletic Conference win streak come to an end Sunday with a 66-52 loss at Mary Baldwin University.
Greensboro raced out to a 7-0 lead over the first minute of the game before the Squirrels battled back to take their first lead at 13-12 just four minutes later. Over the final four minutes of the period, the two teams traded the lead back and forth three times before Mary Baldwin went into the second period with a 25-19 lead, following an 8-0.
The Pride then continued to struggle from the field in the second which allowed the Squirrels to extend their lead out to as many as 17 before going into halftime with a 43-29 advantage.
Following the break, Greensboro was able to pull within 10 heading into the fourth but could not get any closer before falling by the 14-point margin.
Ashley Free and
Katie Lewis both finished with 10 points, while
Diajah Hickson had eight points and 12 rebounds.
