GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team recorded a 4-3 walk-off win over the Bruins of Piedmont International at Ted Leonard Park Wednesday.
Piedmont International took a 1-0 lead into fifth inning before Greensboro was able to tie the game when
Hunter Curtis hit a single up the middle to score
Jacob Rodriguez.
The score remained tied until the bottom half of the seventh inning.
With two runners on base,
Scotty McGuire singled up the middle to score Rodriguez from second base to put the Pride on top 2-1.
Greensboro threatened to add to their lead in the bottom half of the eighth but left the bases loaded.
After failing to push a run across, the Bruins got the first two runners on base before scoring two runs on a pair of Pride errors to take a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom half of the ninth, Greensboro loaded the bases once again before
Brayden King, who pinch ran for McGuire, came across to tie the game on a walk by
Blake Bond.
Following the walk,
Blake Carroll hit a walk-off RBI single to right field.
Joseph Hoelle picked up the win on the mound after pitching the final inning. McGuire finished with a team-high two hits, while
Tyler Price, Curtis,
Lincoln Hewett, Bond, Carroll, and Rodriguez had one hit.
