GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team fell against the Quakers of Guilford College at First National Bank Field Thursday 4-1.
Guilford took a one-run lead in the second inning before extending their margin to two runs with one run in the third inning.
Greensboro then started climbing back into the game and got on the board in the fifth inning after
Hunter Curtis, who singled to lead off the inning, scored on a single up the middle by
Scotty McGuire.
Following the one-run bottom half of the fifth, Guilford was able to regain a two-run lead on a RBI single by Brett Shapcott.
The score then remained the same until the top half of the ninth inning when Guilford plated the game's final run to take the three-run victory.
Curtis finished the game with three hits, while
Tyler Price,
Lincoln Hewett, McGuire,
Derek Jaar,
Daniel Efird, and
Tim Osborne had one hit each.
Clayton Slater was credited with the loss after allowing one run over two innings.
Chenzo Scanio,
Will White,
Jacob Switzer, and
Joseph Hoelle combined to pitch the final seven innings.
