GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College softball team recorded a two-game sweep of Meredith College Sunday.
Greensboro took the opening game 3-0 before winning Game 2 4-1.
The Pride took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of Game 1 when
Kelsey Swaim came across to score on a groundout by
Caroline Stanley.
With Greensboro holding on to the one-run lead heading into the sixth,
Jessica Freeze hit a single to right field to score
Courtney Fink before
Jordan Deaton came around to score on a throwing error for the game's final run.
Maddy Wetherholt, who recorded two hits in the game, recorded her second straight shutout victory after recording four strikeouts. Swaim also had two hits.
Following their victory in the first game, the Pride took a one-run lead in the second inning after
Lilly Baucom placed a single into center field to score
Daisy Martin from second base.
The Angles then tied the game in the third inning before Greensboro got one run in the fourth and two runs in the sixth to secure the three-run victory.
Baucom finished with all four RBI while
Cheyanne Cox earned the complete-game victory after allowing just eight hits and striking out five batters.
