ASHLAND, Va. – The Greensboro College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon Sunday.
The host Yellow Jackets won the first game by an 11-0 score before Greensboro prevailed in Game 2 7-4 in eight innings.
After dropping the opening game, Greensboro jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning after
Cassie Collins plated
Jasmine Worthy on a sacrifice fly before
Hanna Stackhouse and
Caroline Stanley came in to score on a Yellow Jacket error.
The Pride then took their three-run lead into the seventh before Randolph Macon scored three times to send the game into extra innings.
In the eighth, Collins gave Greensboro the lead once again with a double to right center field before
Courtney Fink hit a RBI single to left field.
With the Pride leading 5-3,
Allyson Loy scored on another error before
Lilly Baucom came across the plate for the Pride's final run on a bunt single by Worthy.
Randolph-Macon then added one run in the bottom half but Greensboro was able to hold on for the three-run victory.
Stackhouse finished with a team-leading two hit while Cox pitched the entire game and struck out four batters to secure the victory.
