GREENSBORO, N.C. – Michael Kiley scored six goals and added one as the Greensboro College men's lacrosse team used a huge second half to sail past Montreat College Saturday 16-5.
Michael Meley gave Greensboro a one-goal lead just 51 seconds into the first period before Kiley struck for his first two goals to give extend the Pride advantage to three-goal.
Montreat was then able to score the final goal of the period but
Spencer Kontoulas scored in the first minute of the second period to give Greensboro a 4-1 lead.
Over the final 14 minutes of the half, the two teams traded goals back and forth before Greensboro went on to take a 6-4 lead into halftime.
Following the break, Greensboro quickly broke the game wide open with 10 unanswered goals in route to the 11-goal victory.
Meley finished with a game high three assists to goal along with three goals while
Spencer Kontoulas also had three goals.
"I was happy with how the team came out after halftime and left no doubt on the field," Head Coach
Mike Foderaro said. "We still need to improve on not getting penalties and focusing on making the easy plays early.
"We rode very hard today and I think that was a huge difference maker. We have a quick turnaround with our game on Monday, so back to work on the scout in preparation for Neumann."
The Pride men will return to action Monday when they host Neumann University at 2 p.m.
