GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's basketball team fell in the USA South Athletic Conference quarterfinal round to the Hawks of Huntingdon College Saturday 57-47.
 
Greensboro struggled from the field in the first period and found themselves trailing 17-7 after 10 minutes.
 
Huntingdon then extended their lead to 16 before Greensboro closed out the half on a 10-2 run to pull within 34-26 at the break. Makayla Williams and Lauren Jenkins got the run started with a layup on back-to-back possessions before A'Liyah Woods closed out the run with four straight points.
 
After the Hawks regained their double-digit lead midway through the third, Greensboro battled back to pull within five, following another Jenkins basket with 1:01 on the clock.
 
However, Greensboro was not able to get any closer than three over the final 11 minutes and fell by the 10-point margin.
 
"We had a lot of jitters in the first period," Assistant Coach Vontreece Hayes said. "I wish we would have played all four periods the same way but we only played two.
 
"I am extremely proud of the performance our seniors had and they will truly be missed."
 
Woods finished with a double double of 17 points and 11 rebounds while Jenkins finished with eight points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.
 
With the loss, the Pride women finish the 2018-2019 season with an overall record of 19-7.
