GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team fell in their 2019 season opener Wednesday to the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney College 19-6.
The Tigers 9-0 lead early in the second quarter before Greensboro got a pair of man-up goals by
Davis Miller and
Michael Sehlhorst to pull the Pride to within seven at the halftime break.
Greensboro then scored another man-up goal early in the third as
Michael Kiley took a feed from Miller to make the score 9-3.
However, the Tigers were able to respond with seven straight goals to end the period to extend their lead to 16-3.
In the fourth, Greensboro got goals from Kiley, Miller, and Bane but the Tigers were able to secure the 13-goal victory.
Kyle Ishler took the loss in goal despite recording 13 saves.
"I thought the team played hard for the full 60 minutes today, which is what you want to see from a team that is trailing in games," Head Coach
Mike Foderaro said. "Our attack unit played well together and shows promise going forward with this season.
"We need to do a better job of staying composed at times and staying out of the penalty box. Hampden-Sydney played a great game today, hats off to them."
The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team will return to action Saturday when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan College.
