HIGH PONIT, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team fell to NCAA Division I member High Point University Tuesday 90-73.
High Point led by as many as seven points over the first eight minutes of the first half before the Pride went on a 5-1 run over the next two minutes to pull within 19-18.
Sean McCabe got the run started with an old-fashion three-point play before
Kristian Williams slammed home a dunk for his first basket of the afternoon.
Over the next eight minutes, the Panthers were able to extend their lead back out to as many as 11 points before Greensboro pulled to within 50-42 at the break after
Justin Minnis hit his first three-pointer of the game.
In the second half, High Point extended their lead out to 20 over the first 12 minutes before Greensboro climbed their way back to within seven after going on a 13-0 run. McCabe and
Eric Peaks Jr. both had three points during the run while
Michael Phifer,
Kevon Meertins,
Keyford Langley, and
Keyshawn Dorsey combined for seven points.
Over the remainder of the game, Greensboro could not get any closer and fell by the 17-point margin.
Phifer finished with a team-leading 22 points in the loss while Langley and Peaks Jr. combined for 21 points.
