GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College volleyball team fell to the Cougars of Averett University Wednesday 3-1.
After dropping the opening set by a 25-20 score, Greensboro came surging back to win Set 2 by a identical 25-20 mark. Averett held a 20-18 lead in the set but Greensboro ran off seven straight points for the set win behind the serve of Dixie Faulk.
Following the Set 2 win, Greensboro hung tightly with the Cougars in Set 3 but fell by a 25-23 score before falling in the final set 25-17.
"I am proud of the energy that we had tonight as this was probably the best that we have played all year," Head Coach
Kevin Troup said. "We did a good job keeping Averett out of system. They are a well coached team and have a lot of talent, hats off to them.
"We will use this momentum as we take on Guilford tomorrow before returning to conference play this weekend."
Carly Uhlir had a team-leading 14 kills and 20 digs in the victory while
Sarah Egbers posted 12 kills. Faulk passed for 27 assists and combined with Uhlir and
Kayce Jo Harris for five service aces.
