Late Surge Vaults Pride Men To 2-1 Victory Over Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team scored two goals in the final 14 minutes to defeat the Monarchs of Methodist University Tuesday 2-1.

Methodist took a one-goal lead into halftime and was able to hold on to it until the 77th minute when the Pride were able to find the equalizer.

Following a Monarchs foul just outside of the 18-yard box, Greensboro was awarded a free-kick and was able to capitalize on the opportunity. Following a double assist from Gerardo Peraza and Leo Vasconcelos, Jordy Briceno bent a shot around the Methodist defense into the bottom right corner of the goal.

Greensboro was then able to ride that momentum for the rest of the game. With just under 10 minutes remaining in regulation, the Pride was awarded a corner-kick and Christian Thomas found the bottom left corner of the goal for the eventual game winner.

Remy Brezault was credited with the win in goal for the Pride after stopping five of the six shots he faced.

The Pride men will return to action Saturday when they host the Tornados of Brevard College. For more information on Greensboro College men's soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
