Women's Soccer Plays To 1-1 Draw Against Methodist

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the Monarchs of Methodist University Saturday.

Neither team was able to score in the first half before the Monarchs took a one-goal lead in the 59th minute of play.

However, Greensboro was able to find the equalizer in the 76th minute as Katia Mezey found the back of the net.

Following the conclusion of regulation, the two teams played two 10-minute overtime periods but neither team found the back of the net despite a strong and late push by the Pride.

"The girls fought hard today and we created numerous dangerous chances, but unfortunately we couldn't put more in the back of the net," Head Coach Jordan May said. "I am proud of our effort and how we responded in our first overtime game of the season, which speaks a lot about the character of our team."

Kelsey Emrich made five saves in goal for the Pride while the Greensboro offense outshot the Monarchs 28-10. Isabella Cross finished with a team-high three shots on goal while Logan Schnabl had two shots on goal.

The Pride women will return to action Wednesday when they host the Angels of Meredith College at 4 p.m. on Pride Filed. For more information on Greensboro College women's soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
