Pride Women Fall On Road To Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Va. –The Greensboro College women's basketball team suffered an 80-76 defeat against Mary Baldwin University Wednesday.
 
Greensboro raced out an 8-2 lead over the first minute of the game as Katie Lewis hit a pair of three-pointers, while Brianna Best tallied one basket.
 
However, the Squirrels were able to battle their way back to take a 9-8 lead before going on to take their largest lead of the period at 20-15 with 3:32 showing on the clock.
 
Despite facing the five-point deficit, Ashley Free and Best combined to score the game's next five points to tie the game for a second time before Greensboro was able to take a 24-22 lead into the second period, following a three-pointer by Makalya Williams.
 
In the period, neither team was able to pull away as they exchanged their lead four times over 10 minutes before Mary Baldwin matched their largest lead of the contest a 44-39 heading into intermission.
 
Following the break, Greensboro came racing out with a 12-2 run over the first three minutes to take a 51-46 advantage.  
 
Lewis record five points during the Pride run, while Sabria Joseph had four points.
 
Greensboro would then take their largest lead of the game at 54-46 on another Lewis three-pointer before the Squirrels ran back in front with a 16-6 run to close out the period to take a 62-59 lead.
 
 
In the fourth, the Pride was able to regain a one-point lead but Mary Baldwin pulled away one final time and was able to secure the victory.
 
Lewis led all Greensboro scorers with 16 points, while Woods (12), Joseph (10) and Free (13) also finished in double figures.
