GREENSBORO, N.C.—The Greensboro College men's soccer team defeated the Falcons of Pfeiffer University Wednesday, 2-1.
Both teams battled for possession over the first 40 minutes, but Pfeiffer struck first and took their one-goal edge leading into the second half.
"The boys showed character after giving up the goal late in the first half," Head Coach
Tony Falvino said. "I thought to that point we had created some very good chances, but we didn't capitalize on them."
The Pride began to change the pace at the start of the second half.
A turnover by Pfeiffer's keeper in the 57
th minute gave
Darli Mihindou the chance to even the score at 1-1.
Following a free kick by
Jordy Briceno,
Pedro Perez-Rodriguez chipped it into
William Curry to elevate the Pride, 2-1.
The Falcons had an opportunity to score late in the game, but due to inclement weather, the game was called and the Pride secured the victory.
"During the second half we came back and responded with two goals and created more chances," Falvino added. "We are happy with the result.
"Every conference match is difficult and we always have to rise to the occasion to perform at our best as a team."
The Pride will hit the road Saturday at 5 p.m. for a USA South matchup against Averett University. For more information on Greensboro College men's soccer, continue to follow
