GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team fell to the nationally ranked Maroons of Roanoke College Tuesday, 7-1.
Greensboro took an early one-run lead after
Brayden King came across to score in the first inning off an error by the Maroons catcher, who tried to prevent
Tyler Price for stealing second base.
Roanoke then took the lead in the third inning with two runs before going on to secure the six-run victory.
Greensboro had the bases loaded with two out in the sixth but was unable to capitalize.
"Right now we are just not playing very good baseball," Head Coach
Frank Maldonado said. "The effort and talent is there, but we just need to put it together more consistently and I am confident that this group will get there."
Hunter Curtis had a team-high two hits, while
Blake Carroll, King,
Jimmy Short,
Blake Glass and
Lincoln Hewett had one hit each.
Josh Evans took the loss on the mound.
The Pride will return to action Friday when they open a three-game USA South Athletic Conference series in Montgomery, Ala. against the Hawks of Huntingdon College. For more information on Greensboro College baseball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
