Men's Lacrosse Suffers Overtime Defeat At Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team dropped a USA South Athletic Conference match-up against the Hawks of Huntingdon College Saturday, in overtime, 5-4.

Greensboro took a 1-0 lead into the second period, after Austin Bane scored off an assist from Joseph Stump, before Andrew Klementz extended their lead to 2-0 with his 12th goal of the season.

However, Huntingdon was able to battle back to tie the game at two heading into halftime before taking their first lead of the game at 3-2 with a goal late in the third period.

After neither them was able to find the back of the net for the next eight minutes, Klementz struck for Greensboro for the second time, tying the game at three.

Following the Greensboro goal, Huntingdon quickly regained the lead after winning the faceoff before Klementz capped off his hat trick with 9:20 remaining in regulation.

The two teams then played to a draw until Huntingdon scored in the second overtime period to secure the one-goal victory.

"It was a very hard fought defensive battle today," Head Coach Mike Foderaro said. "The defense all around came to play today, from man down, to 6 v 6 and between the pipes.

"Shout out to my assistants for killing it with the scout. Hats off to Huntingdon for their victory. We will rest up and get ready for our game Wednesday."

The Pride men will return to action at 4 p.m. Wednesday when they host the Monarchs of Methodist University. For more information on Greensboro College men's lacrosse, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
