GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team fell to their crosstown rivals from Guilford College Wednesday, 18-8.
The Pride scored the game's first goal in the fourth minute of action after
Kyle Dahlin took a
Ryan Cole pass and laced it past the Quakers keeper in the upper left corner of the goal.
Following the Greensboro goal, the Quakers scored six unanswered goals before
Davis Miller scored his third goal of the season to pull Greensboro to within 6-2 with 12:48 to play in second period.
Over the final 12 minutes of the half,
Spencer Kontoulas and Miller was able to find the back of the net, but Guilford struck four more times to take a 10-4 lead into the break.
Guilford then extended their lead with six straight goals in the third period before Dahlin found the back of the net to slow the Quaker attack.
Despite tallying three goals in the final period, Greensboro was unable to overcome the deficit, falling by the 10-goal margin.
"Today was really tough loss," Head Coach
Mike Foderaro said. "We will learn from our mistakes and get back to practice to get ready for our next game on Saturday."
Patrick Bell won 15 of his 25-faceoff attempts, while joining Dahlin with a team-leading five ground balls.
Stephen Tanner made 13 saves in goal, but was credited with the loss.
