GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College football team fell on senior day to the Scots of Maryville College Saturday, 42-7.
Maryville took a 42-0 lead into the third quarter before Greensboro was able to get on the board.
After taking over on the Maryville 30-yard line, Greensboro used 10 plays to find the end zone on a
David Loughry II touchdown pass to
Da'Shaun Wallace.
Ronnie Hall then connected on the point after attempt to make the score 42-7 early in the fourth.
Following the Pride touchdown, the Pride defense continued to play strong against the run and did not allow the Scots to score again.
"Obviously today's game was disappointing," Head Coach
Greg Crum said. "Defensively we played a great game, but our young corners just made a couple mistakes after giving up 21 points on offense early in the game.
"I thought we did a really good job of shutting down their run game. The kids are fighting their butts off and they are playing hard for each other, while becoming a family and doing all the things we ask them to do."
Loughry paced Greensboro in both passing and rushing, while Wallace caught five passes for 30 yards and one touchdown.
Mike Jones finished with one reception for a team-leading 39 yards.
Defensively,
Kasseem Bagley had eight tackles, while
James Pegues and
Garratt Brannock had two tackles for loss.
Jason Gerber tallied a fumble recovery and
Jarel Brown had once interception.
The Pride will return to action Saturday when they travel to Brevard College to close out the season. For more information on Greensboro College football, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
