WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Greensboro College volleyball team split a pair of USA South Athletic Conference matches at Salem College Saturday.
The Pride opened the day with a 3-1 victory over the Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan College before falling in straight sets to the host Spirits.
In their match against N.C. Wesleyan, Greensboro took the opening set by a 25-20 score before falling in Set 2, 25-22.
Following their loss in the second set, the Pride went on to close out the match with 26-24 and 25-22 wins over the next two sets.
Sarah Egbers posted a match-high 20 kills, while
Alycia Artis chipped in 16.
Tori Belcher recorded 6 kills to go along with 17 digs and
Katie Clark passed for 46 assists.
Grayce Goins paced the Greensboro defense with 24 digs.
Following their victory over the Bishops, the Pride fell by scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-22 to the Spirits.
This time it was Artis leading the way in kills with seven, while Clark passed for 23 assists.
Jordan Ware had three blocks.
"I am really proud of the way we played today," Head Coach
Kevin Troup said. "We put together a complete set where we minimized our mistakes and kept our opponents out of system. The energy and hustle we had today was great to see.
"We have been working hard in practice and really needed to get another win under our belt. It was great to get one today."
