Men's Basketball Drops USA South Contest To Berea

BEREA, Ky.— The Greensboro College men's basketball team fell to the Mountaineers of Berea College Saturday, 91-82.

It was a constant battle for the lead throughout the first half, until Darus Maddox knocked down his first three-point basket of the evening. The sophomore helped opened up a 15-6 run for the Pride before going into halftime tied at 32-32.

As both teams continued to contest shots in the second half, the game was tied at 43-43 and pushed into overtime.

Once overtime commenced, Berea shot out ahead and Greensboro was unable to recover the deficit.

"Defensively, I thought we could've been better," Head Coach Bryan Galuski said. "We had some great performances from some of our guys, but it was not a mistake-free game."

Maddox finished with a season-high 29 points and four steals. Senior Joseph Gatling put up 20 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Keyford Langley tallied 15 points.

"Out of our first five conference games, only one has been at home. We expect to win, but I believe that being defeated early will help us in the long run. I believe in our guys and I believe we have the ability, but we have to grind together."

The Pride men return to the court Sunday at Maryville College as they face the Scots during USA South Athletic Conference play. For more information on Greensboro College men's basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com
