Pride Men Suffer First Conference Loss Against N.C. Wesleyan, 4-1

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team fell to the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan Wednesday, 4-1.

The Bishops were able to take a one-goal lead just eight minutes into the contest before Carlos Barragan got Greensboro on the board in the 28th minute to tie the match at one.

However, N.C. Wesleyan was able to add three more goals in the half to take a 4-1 halftime lead before holding on for the three-goal victory.

The Pride and the Bishops both recorded 11 shots on the afternoon with seven of them being on the goal frame.

"It was a disappointing performance from the guys," Head Coach Tony Falvino said. "We lack the fire required to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves.

"In saying that, we still have several boys who showed up and represented themselves and Greensboro College well. We need to look inward and focus on ourselves as a team and learn, and improve, from today."

Barragan finished with a team-high three shots on goal, while Ryan Mule, Gerardo Peraza, Jordy Briceno and Darli Mihnidou each had one shot on goal. Jaime Payamps took the loss for Greensboro despite recording three saves.

The Pride will return to action at 7 p.m. Saturday when they travel to Fayetteville, N.C. to take on the Monarchs of Methodist University. For more information on Greensboro College men's soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
