CARY, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team fell to the Pacers of William Peace University Saturday, 3-2, in Game 2 of a three-game USA South Athletic Conference set.
The Pacers took a 3-0 lead into the eighth inning before the Pride used a two-run inning to pull within 3-2 but could not get any closer.
Daniel Efird led off the inning with a walk before advancing into scoring position on a
Brady Dignan single.
Andrew Ray then brought Efird home with a single to right-center field. Dignan came across the plate for the game's final run on a
Jimmy Short infield single.
Adam Murray was credited with the loss after giving up three earned runs over 6 2/3 innings. Ray and Dignan had a team-high two hits each, while
Brayden King, Short,
Scotty McGuire, and
Hunter Curtis had one hit each.
"Adam did a great job pounding the strike zone and competing from the first pitch," Assistant Coach
Chris Fenisey said. "Baseball is a game of adjustments and we have to continue to adjust and grow as the game goes on.
"We still have an opportunity to win a series as we close out the three-game set tomorrow."
The Pride will return to action at 1 p.m. Sunday when they wrap up the three-game set with William Peace. For more information on Greensboro College baseball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
