Baseball Falls In Extra Innings To No.2 LaGrange In Series Opener

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Greensboro College baseball team fell to No.2 LaGrange College in 10 innings Friday, 6-5.

After neither team was able to plate a run in the first three innings, Greensboro used a two-run fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead.

Edward Milian hit a double down the right field line to score Derek Jaar for the inning's first run before Milian came in to score on a Hunter Curtis single.

The Panthers then tied the game with a two-run fifth inning before Jaar recorded his second homerun of the season to put Greensboro back on top, 3-2.

Greensboro was then able to add to their lead in the eighth inning when Jaar hit a single to score Daniel Efird.

However, LaGrange rallied to take a 5-4 lead in the bottom half of the inning but Greensboro was able to tie the game with a RBI single in the ninth inning by Brandon Soden.

After Greensboro was unable to push a run across in the 10th inning, LaGrange was able to win the game on a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning.

"You have to execute and stay focused in the back end of a game and we did not do that tonight," Head Coach Frank Maldonado said. "Overall we played a solid game but you have to finish to beat good teams like LaGrange."

Jaar finished with a team-high three hits, while Andrew Ray, Milian, and Curtis had two hits apiece. Piero Amador pitched the first seven innings, while Willis Booth pitched one inning. Christian Kercado was credited with the loss.

The Pride will wrap-up their 2017 season with a doubleheader with the Panthers Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. For more information on Greensboro College baseball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
