GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team fell to the Wildcats of Cazenovia Tuesday, 15-9.
Ryan Cole gave Greensboro an early one-goal lead before the Wildcats responded with two goals over the next two minutes to take a 2-1 lead.
Daniel Wolf then tied the game at 2 with his ninth goal of the season but Joe Timm found the back of the net seconds late to give Cazenovia a 3-2 lead.
However,
Davis Miller and Wolf each tallied one goal each in the second period to put the Pride on top 4-3 before the Wildcats scored the next six goals to take a 9-4 lead with 13:39 to play in the third period.
Greensboro then pulled to within 9-7 following goals by
Kyle Dahlin,
Victor Mehrtens, and
Austin Bane but the Wildcats outscored the Pride 6-2 over the final 23 minutes to secure the six-goal victory.
"We just did not play our best game today," Head Coach
Mike Foderaro said. "We will get back to practice tomorrow and get ready for Drew on Thursday."
Wolf finished with a team-high four goals, while Miller, Mehrtens, Cole, Dahlin, and Bane had one goal each. Miller also had a team-high two assists, while Johnathan Avedesian and Mehrtens had one assist each.
Chris DiBlasi took the loss in goal for Greensboro despite recording 15 saves.
