GREENSBORO, N.C. – Jimmy Short recorded a team-high three hits and three RBIs but the Greensboro College baseball team fell to Huntingdon College Saturday, 17-3.
Greensboro took a one-run lead after Short plated
Zach Neumeister with a single to left field in the first inning.
Huntingdon then scored the game's next 17 runs before the Pride plated their final two runs in the seventh inning.
After Neumeister grounded out to start the inning,
Michael Faul placed a single into right field to give Greensboro their first baserunner of the inning.
Two batters later, Short blasted a home run over the left-center field wall for the game's final two runs.
"We just were not ready to play today and Huntingdon took advantage of that by playing good baseball," Head Coach
Frank Maldonado said. "As a team we are not playing good baseball right now but our focus now turns to tomorrow as we try to pick up our first conference win of the season."
Faul and
Brady Dignan recorded two hits each, while
Hunter Curtis had one hit.
Adam Murray pitched the first 5 1/3 innings and was credited with the loss.
The Pride baseball team will wrap up the three-game conference set with the Hawks at 12 p.m. Sunday. For more information on Greensboro College baseball, continue to follow
