Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Pride Men Hold On Late To Top Hilbert

GREENSBORO, N.C. –Daniel Wolf scored six goals as the Pride men's lacrosse team defeated the Hawks of Hilbert College Saturday, 9-8.

Jonathan Avedesian scored the game's first goal on an assist from Davis Miller before Wolf scored his first goal of the game on a man-up opportunity to give Greensboro a 2-0 lead.

The Hawks responded a few seconds later cutting the Pride advantage to one goal heading into the second quarter.

Hilbert fed off of that late first quarter goal by scoring the first two goals of the second segment to take a one-goal lead of their own.

After Wolf tied the game with his second goal of the day, the Hawks quickly struck again before going into halftime with a 4-3 lead.

The third quarter was all Greensboro.

Wolf would scored three goals in the quarter, while Victor Mehrtens tallied one goal to give Greensboro a 7-4 lead heading into the final 15 minutes. Tamarie Sterling and Avedesian each had two assists.

Hilbert battled back over the first three minutes of the final period and pulled within 7-6 before Davis Miller would score the game's most athletic goal by throwing his body in front of the net and finishing past the Hawks goalkeeper.

Wolf would cap off his stellar performance with his sixth and final goal to extend the Greensboro lead to 9-6.

However, Hilbert scored two goals over the final six minutes before Greensboro was able to secure the one-goal victory.

Another great performance on the day came from Pride goalkeeper Chris DiBlasi.  DiBlasi would end the game making 14 big saves for the Pride.

"The game was back and forth all game," Head Coach Mike Foderaro said. "The guys handled their emotions well and I thought Dan Wolf, Victor Mehrtens, and Chris DiBlasi had excellent games."

The Pride men's lacrosse team are back in action on at 4 p.m. Wednesday when they host Bridgewater College. For more information on Greensboro College men's lacrosse, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com
