Men's Lacrosse Dominates Oglethorpe In Season Opener

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Jonathan Avedesian scored four goals as the Pride men's lacrosse team opened its 2017 season with a 19-2 victory over Oglethorpe University Friday.
 
Daniel Wolf, Kyle Dahlin, and Avedesian each had two goals in the first period as Greensboro took a 7-0 lead into the second period.
 
Greensboro then continued to add on its advantage before halftime.
 
Avedesian found the back of the net for a third time just two minutes into the second period before Victor Mehrtens beat the Petrel's keeper to give the Pride a 9-0 lead.
 
After going scoreless for the next eight minutes, Daniel Wolf, Davis Miller, and Avedesian each found the back of the net to give Greensboro a 12-goal halftime lead.
 
Greensboro then struck for seven more goals over the next 20 minutes to take a 19-0 lead before Oglethorpe scored the game's final two goal over the final eight minutes.
 
"I was extremely proud of how the team played today," Head Coach Michael Foderaro said. "We played great on offense, while getting to our second and third looks, and we were able to provide pressure defensively.
 
"We will enjoy the win be we will get right back at it tomorrow."
 
Davis Miller finished with two goals and four assists, while Kyle Dahlin also had two goals.  Ryan Cole, Andrew Klementz, Michael Sehlhorst, Phillip Gerber, and Austin Schmitt had one goal each. Chris DiBlasi recorded the win in goal after making three saves, while Tim Martin played the final 23 minutes in goal and tallied seven saves.
