DEMOREST, Ga.— The Greensboro College women's basketball team fell to the Lions of Piedmont College Friday during the Piedmont College Cancer Awareness Tournament, 90-68.
The Lions shot out ahead early with a 21-8 run to start off the contest and went into the second period leading Greensboro, 30-17.
Greensboro found their rhythm at the start of the second period and ignited a 24-1 run.
Shaniah Haynes tacked on nine points during Greensboro's run and helped secure a 41-35 lead going into halftime.
After the half, the Pride women struggled to keep up with the Lions and Piedmont was able to lock in the win.
"Tomorrow, we need to play all four periods," Head Coach
Randy Tuggle said. "Instead of going off for only one period, we need to be ready to play the entire game."
Katie Lewis finished with a team-high 14 points, while
Rasheika Gregory,
Kamerin Williams and Haynes tallied nine points each.
The Pride women's basketball team will return to the court tomorrow when they face the Hawks of Huntingdon College at 2 p.m. in their last game of the Piedmont College Cancer Awareness Tournament. For more information on Greensboro College women's basketball, continue to follow
