Pride Women Suffer First Loss Of Season To Wasps

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's basketball team fell to the Wasps of Emory & Henry College Friday, in their final game before the holiday break, 83-48.

The Wasps opened the game on an 8-0 run and began to pull away from the Pride and took a 48-13 lead into halftime.

Even though Greensboro could not overcome the deficit, the Pride played Emory & Henry tough over the final 20 minutes.

Despite being outscored by three points in the third period, Greensboro was able to outscore the Wasps 20-17 in the final period. A'Liyah Woods and Kylee Barry each had five points in the period, while Sabria Joseph chipped in four points.

"It was really disappointing the way that we played today, considering we had a great start to the season," Head Coach Randy Tuggle said. "We just did not have the focus or concertation that we needed from the start of the game.

"I was real proud of the kids that have not been getting a lot of playing time as they took a big step forward. Hopefully we can rebound from this game following the break and come back ready to compete for a conference championship."

Kamerin Williams finished with a team-high eight points and five rebounds. Joseph and Woods also pulled down five boards, while Katie Lewis, Barry and Woods had seven points each.

The Pride women will return to action 6 p.m. on Dec. 29 when they travel to Piedmont College for the Piedmont College Classic. For more information on Greensboro College women's basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
