GREENSBORO, N.C. – Mercedes Fisher tallied three goals as the Greensboro College women's soccer team tamed the Lions of John Wesley University Wednesday, 8-0.
The Pride struck for their first goal of the contest in the ninth minute when
Alexis Chase scored her 10
th goal of the season off an assist from
Mary Lowe.
After
Katia Mezey extended the Greensboro lead to two goals with her second goal of the season, Fisher struck for her first goal of the afternoon in the 37
th minute to push the Pride lead to 3-0.
Fisher then tallied her second goal just before halftime for her 14
th goal of the season to give Greensboro a 4-0 lead at the intermission
Following the break, the Pride got goals from
Madison Karch,
Meredith Priest, Fisher and Lowe to secure the eight-goal victory.
"Today was a good win," Head Coach
Gus Mota said. "It was really good to see everyone contribute today.
"There is still a lot we need to work on and we are looking forward to getting back to practice tomorrow."
Greensboro held a 21-1 shot advantage in the game, while placing 13 shots on goal.
Marisa Camuto recorded the win in goal, while
Kelsey Emrich played the final 45 minutes in goal.
