FERRUM, Va. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team dropped its second conference game of the season at Ferrum College Wednesday, 68-66.
The teams traded baskets early before Greensboro established a 15-11 lead following a 5-0 run.
Lorenzo Marry started the run with his first basket of the game before
Joseph Gatling hit from long range.
After the Greensboro run, Ferrum was able to battle back to take the lead at 26-23 before Greensboro used an 11-0 run to take a 34-26 halftime lead.
Matteo Baggio and Gatling each had three points during the spurt, while
Christopher Corbin,
Donavan Griffith, and Marry combined for five points.
Greensboro was then able to hold its advantage until the final minute of play when Ferrum closed out a 6-0 to secure the two-point victory.
"We knew coming into tonight that tempo was going to be important," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "Ferrum was able to force us into to a half-court style of play, and we did not do that.
"There was times we were carless with the basketball on the offensive side of the floor and could not get stops when it meant the most on the defensive side. We were not a very good basketball team tonight."
Griffith finished with a game-high 20 points, while Gatling finished with 16 points. Griffith also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.
The Pride men will return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday when they host the Hawks of Huntingdon College. For more information on Greensboro College men's basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
