LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team fell to Roanoke College 2-1 Saturday in the first game of the Lynchburg College Invitational.
After a scoreless first half, Roanoke struck early to take a 1-0 lead.
Later in the half, Greensboro's
Obi Collins tied the game. But with about 15 minutes left, Roanoke scored the game's final goal despite multiple opportunities for the Pride.
"The boys played with a lot more urgency and intensity today," Head Coach
Tony Falvino said. "They created a lot of opportunities, but unfortunately a lack of focus in vital areas allowed Roanoke to capitalize on our mistakes.
"While it's disappointing to not get the result, we can use this experience to build on for our upcoming game against Lynchburg."
Jamie Payamps took the loss in goal for the Pride.
The Pride men will close out the Lynchburg College Invitation at 4 p.m. Sunday against the host Hornets. For more information on Greensboro College men's soccer, continue to follow
