GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team had a strong second half against the Monarchs of Methodist University Thursday but fell 11-10.
The Monarchs (6-5) held a 5-0 lead at halftime before Greensboro (3-9) opened the third period with four unanswered goals to pull within one..
Denis Radcliffe,
Daniel Wolf,
Jonathan Avedesian, and
Charles Stringfellow each recorded one goal during the run.
Methodist got two more goals to extend the margin, but the Pride used another four-goal run to take their first lead of the game at 8-7.
Gianni Gonzalez tallied the first two goals before Stringfellow struck for the final two goals.
After the teams traded goals midway through the fourth period, Radcliffe put the Pride on top 10-9 with just under two minutes remaining.
However, MU recorded the equalizer just 18 seconds later before scoring the decisive goal with 40 seconds remaining.
"The men showed that they are capable of battling back from adversity today," Head Coach
Mike Foderaro said. "Unfortunately, that effort was not enough to get us a win. We have another big game coming up on Wednesday, and we will now turn our efforts towards that game."
Stringfellow finished with a team-high three goals and two assists, while Radcliffe and Gonzalez each had two goals.
Ethan Danser took the loss in goal despite making 12 saves.
