FERRUM, Va. – Despite a late surge, the Greensboro College men's basketball team fell to Ferrum College Wednesday, 74-68.
After falling behind 10-3 to open the game, the Pride (12-6, 6-3 USA South) outscored the Panthers (10-10, 5-4 USA South) 11-4 over the next eight minutes to tie the game at 14.
Simeon Howard recorded six points during the span, while Donavan added four points.
Greensboro then took a 21-17 lead following a Griffith layup before going into halftime down 26-25.
The Pride trailed 46-34 eight minutes into the second half, but Greensboro used a 9-0 run to pull within 46-43.
Joseph Gatling tallied five points during the run, while Griffith and
Zedric Barnett each tallied one basket.
Ferrum then pulled back out to a double-digit lead at 64-54.
Over the final two minutes, the Pride battled back to tie the game at 68 but could not push ahead.
"I was proud of our effort throughout the whole game even though we were not able to close it out," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "Credit to Ferrum as they hit some big shots."
Howard finished with a team-high 21 points, while Gatling tallied 17 points. Griffith also added 16 points.
