GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team fell to Virginia Wesleyan Saturday, 18-8.
The Marlins (2-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead before
Lamar Jelks got Greensboro (1-3) on the board.
Following two more Virginia Wesleyan goals,
Jonathan Avedesian scored off an assist from
Tamarie Sterling before
Gianni Gonzalez pulled the Pride to within 6-3, following a man-up goal.
Jervon Speller and
Daniel Wolf added two more goals in the second period, but the Marlins took an 11-5 lead into halftime.
Over the final 30 minutes of the game, Dennis Radcliffe tallied two goal, while Speller recorded his second goal of the day, but the Marlins pulled away for the 10-goal victory.
Jelks, who won 14 face-offs, picked up a team-high 13 groundballs, while Avedsian caused a team-high five turnovers.
Detione Jones took the loss in goal for Greensboro despite making 11 saves.
