GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team could not overcome a slow start, falling 10-7 Thursday to Guilford College.
The Quakers (1-1) tallied six unanswered goals to open the game before the Pride (1-2) could score.
Gianni Gonzalez, who recorded a team-high three goals, scored the Pride's first goal before Guilford struck again to keep the six-goal margin.
Tamarie Sterling and Dennis Radcliffe each tallied one goal in the second period, but the Pride went into halftime down 8-3.
Greensboro opened the third quarter with three straight goals before the Quakers went into the final period up 10-6. Gonzalez tallied two man-up goals, while Jonathan Avedsian added the third.
Charles Stringfellow took a feed from
Lamar Jelks just 10 seconds into the final period and beat the Guilford goalkeeper, but the Pride could not get any closer.
Despite making 15 saves,
Ethan Danser took the loss in goal.
