Women's Basketball Scorches William Peace 95-65

RALEIGH, N.C. Bryanna Stanton recorded a team-high 15 points as the Pride women's basketball team defeated the Pacers of William Peace, 95-65.

Greensboro (14-9, 10-4 USA South) started out slow but used a 7-0 run to establish its first lead of the game at 16-14. Alexis Hite drained a three-pointer to start the run before capping it off with her second bucket of the afternoon, while Courtney Pearsall picked up her first two points of the game.

The Pacers (7-18, 1-15 USA South) tied the game at 27 with six minutes remaining in the second period, but the Pride took a 47-31 lead into halftime. Stanton, who hit a half-court shot as time expired, accounted for eight of Greensboro's final 20 points of the half.

Greensboro continued to pull away in the second half for the 95-65 victory.

"We did a good job of spreading the ball around today," Assistant Coach Jennifer King said. "To have five players in double figures is huge, and the girls played well the entire game."

Monica Smalls (14), Alyssa Carbone (12), Hite (11), and Kamerin Williams (10) joined Stanton in double figures. Marla Crawford dished out a team-high seven assists.

The Pride women will return to the court at 1 p.m. Sunday at Methodist University. For more information on Greensboro College women's basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com
