GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College volleyball team capped off its 2016 regular season Saturday with a victory over North Carolina Wesleyan on senior day, 3-1.

Following the pre-game festivities, Greensboro (19-11, 9-6 USA South) took an early 5-1 lead in Set 1. The Bishops (10-17, 7-8 USA South) recorded three errors to open the run before Kirschner capped it off with two kills.
Wesleyan then battled back to take an 11-9 lead before the Pride surged in front 14-11 following a five point run.
As the set progressed, the Bishops pulled within 15-14 before Greensboro ceased control of the set with a 6-0 spurt. Anders tallied two service aces during the span, while Bohrer and Kirschner each had one kill.
After Greensboro went on to take a 1-0 lead in the match, Wesleyan evened things up with a 25-17 Set 2 win.
Greensboro then responded to win Set 3 by a score of 27-25, before closing out the match with a 25-23 Set 4 win.
"Tonight was a great win for our seniors who have put in so much time and effort to make this team what it is," Head Coach
Kaci Pike said. "Their leadership over the past year has created the success we are seeing this season.
"It is great to see our team compete as one and get results."
Brandy Johnson had a match-high 18 kills, while
Evan Sherer and
Shayla Moss combined for 15 kills.
Darrian Bolts tallied a team-high 22 assists, while
Tori Belcher paced the Greensboro defense with 28 digs. With her defensive performance tonight, Belcher surpassed the 1,000-career digs mark and currently has 1,024-career digs.
The Pride volleyball team will open USA South Athletic Conference Tournament play at 5 p.m. Tuesday when they take on the No. 5 East-seed Ferrum College in Danville, Va. For more information on Greensboro College Volleyball, continue to follow
