DANVILLE, Va. – The Greensboro College volleyball team closed its 2016 season Tuesday with a defeat against Ferrum College in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament, 3-1.
Greensboro (19-12) opened a 6-3 lead in Set 1 before opening its largest lead of set at 16-8, following a 5-0 run.
Emily Horn and
Meredith Summers each had one kill, while
Rachel Suttee added one service.
The Pride then went on to take a 1-0 lead in the match following a 25-18 win.
However, Ferrum (16-17) came back to win the next three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-22, closing out the match.
"While this is not the end we were hoping for, I am extremely proud of all this team accomplished this year," Head Coach
Kaci Pike said. "I think we surprised a lot of people and showed to positive direction this program is heading."
Brandy Johnson had a team-high 16 kills, while
Evan Sherer and Horn combined for 16 kills.
Darrian Bolt recorded a team-high 23 assists.
Katie Clark added 18 assists.
Tori Belcher paced the Pride defense with 17 digs.
