DANVILLE, Va. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team fell at Averett University Saturday, 75-59.
 
Greensboro (7-6, 1-1 USA South) held a 9-7 lead three minutes into the contest before Averett (10-3, 1-1 USA South) used a 7-0 run to pull out in front 14-9.
 
The Pride stayed within five points before outscoring the Cougars 19-7 over the next five minutes to gain a 28-18 advantage. Trevin Miller tallied nine of his 11 first-half points during the run, while Parris Scales, Hamilton Hawkins, and Christopher Corbin each recorded at least one bucket.
 
After the teams traded baskets, the Cougars closed the half on a 9-0 run to tie the game.
 
"We had an inconsistent first half with both some positive and negative moments," Pride Head Coach Bryan Galuski said. "In the first half we showed some signs of offensive dominance, but we definitely made some mistakes."
 
Early in the second half, the Pride struggle from the field, and the Cougars pulled away for the victory.
 
"I don't know what team came out to play in the second half," Galuski said. "It was disappointing. We need more in a road conference game, but hats off to Averett."
 
Scales finished with a team-high 16 points, while Miller added 11 points and led the team with six rebounds.
 
"We are very weak with the ball, and we believe that it is going to be easy, but it's not as this is conference play," Galuski said. "We have learn and grow to get better. We just did not have it tonight offensively and did not play together."
