Baseball Suffers Three Game Sweep at Covenant

LOOKOUT MTN., GA – The Greensboro College baseball team (11-23, 10-17 USAS) dropped a pair of USA South Conference games on Saturday afternoon by identical 9-3 scores.

In the first game of the double header, Covenant took a 5-0 lead into the top half of the fourth inning before the Pride was able to get on the board.

In the fourth inning, Zach Neumeister led off the inning with a double to right center field before advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt by shortstop Jordan Powell. Once Powell moved Neumeister up ninety feet, Brian Robbett was able to push him across the plate with a sacrifice fly making the score 5-1.

Once Greensboro gained one run back, the Scots awnserd right back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning pushing their advantage to 7-1.

Two innings later, Greensboro was able to score two more runs to pull within 7-3 but could not get any closer falling by a 9-3 score. Jordan Powell led off the sixth inning with a double of his own before coming in to score following aKyle Willard groundout. After the Powell run, Greensboro walked the bases loaded before Andrew Hernandezrecorded the final RBI of the game with a walk of his own.

Zach Neumeister, Jordan Powell, Brian Robbett, Kyle Willard, and Cody York each recorded one hit in the game.Adam Murray took the loss on the mound.

In the second game of the day, Greensboro found themselves trailing by a 9-1 score before Andrew Ray hit a two run shot to left center field for the final two runs of the day.

Cody York led the way with two hits while J.P. Lisk, Jordan Powell, Brain Robbett, Kyle Willard, Andrew Hernandez, Andrew Ray, and Brandon Soden each added one hit. Josh Evans took the loss on the mound.

The Pride will return to Ted Leonard Park for their final home game of the season on Wednesday night. Greensboro will welcome the Maroons of Roanoke College to town for a 7:00 PM start.
