Baseball Fall In Series Finale With Panthers

GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro College baseball team (10-15, 9-12 USAS) returned to the field on Sunday afternoon to take on the Panthers of Ferrum College in the final game of a three game conference series. The Pride took the first two games on Saturday afternoon, but Greensboro could not complete the sweep falling 15-1.

Ferrum got on the board in each of their first trips to the plate taking an early, 14-0, lead.

Greensboro then got on the board with one run in the bottom half of the second inning. With one out in the inning, Andrew Toney got hit with a 1-2 pitch before coming around to score on an Andrew Hernandez double to deep left center field making the score 14-1.

After Greensboro tallied the run, Ferrum was able to respond back with the final run of the game in the top half of the fourth inning making the score 15-1.

"We just did not have best effort today," Pride Head Coach Jonathan Nichols said following the game. "We had too many errors and could not make adjustments at the plate. On the other hand, I am happy that we picked up the series win but we have got to get better going forward."

Andrew Ray, Andrew Hernandez, Zach Neumiester, and James Wilkins each recorded one hit in the game.

Kristopher Peeden took the loss on the mound for the Pride.

Greensboro will return to the field on Tuesday afternoon when they take on the Wasps of Emory & Henry. The first pitch is set for 3:00 PM. For the latest on the Pride baseball team, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
