Men's Lacrosse Ends Regular Season With,12-7, Victory

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Nick Sagraves scored a team high three goals as the Pride men's lacrosse team (6-8) defeated the Monarchs of Methodist University on Wednesday afternoon by a 12-7 score.

Blaine Wise and Sagraves each scored in the first two minutes of the opening quarter before Methodist got one goal back giving Greensboro the 2-1 lead heading into the second quarter.

For the second consecutive quarter, Greensboro got two quick goals to extend their lead out to 4-1 with 12:05 showing on the first half clock. Lamar Jelks scored the first goal of the quarter before Drew Farrell took a feed from Nick Sagraves pushing the Pride to the three goal advantage.

Over the course of the final seven minutes of the quarter, Methodist was able to tally three unanswered goals to send the game into the halftime break tied at 4-4.

Coming out to the intermission, Jelks recorded his second goal of the day before Tamarie Sterling found the back of the net for the first time on the day making the score 6-4 in favor of the Pride.

Following the Sterling goal, Methodist was able to get one of the goals back before Nick Sagraves took a feed from Denis Radcliffe to reestablish the two goal lead at 7-5.

Later in the period, the Monarchs were able to tally another goal but Blaine Wise scored on an unassisted goal with seven seconds remaining in the third quarter to send the Pride into the final quarter of play with a 8-6 led.

Daniel Wolf, Nick Sagraves, and two goals by Dennis Radcliffe in the fourth quarter help secure the five goal victory.

Greensboro College held a commanding 48-27 mark in the shot category. Radcliffe led the way with ten shots while Blaine Wise fired off nine of his own.

Cody Cunningham took the win for Greensboro between the pipes after stopping six shots. Taylor Babb also appeared in goal for the Pride stopping both shots he faced.

The Pride men's lacrosse team finished their regular season with a 6-8 mark.
