LaGRANGE, GA – The Greensboro College Pride baseball team (11-16, 10-12 USAS) traveled to LaGrange College (10-16, 9-10 USAS) to open a three game USA South Athletic Conference series on Thursday night. After falling behind early, Greensboro was able to bounce back to come away with a 15-8 victory.
The Panthers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Greensboro used a seven run fourth inning to take the lead at 7-2. Greensboro got their first run of the game following a RBI groundout by
Kyle Willard to score
Jordan Powell before
Gwynn Thompson evened the score at 2-2 with an infield single to plate
Brian Robbett.
Following the single by Thompson,
Andrew Hernandez placed a single of his own to score
Zach Neumeister and
Andrew Toney giving the Pride a 4-2 lead. Once Hernandez put Greensboro on top, Bandon Soden extended the margin with a double to left field scoring two runs to make the score 6-2. Greensboro was then able to add their final run of the inning following a
Jordan Powell sacrifice fly sending the Pride into the bottom half of the inning up 7-2.
After LaGrange scored a single run in their next at bat, Greensboro was able to put crooked numbers on the board in each the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings of play to come away with the 15-8 victory. In those three innings
James Wilkins, Brain Robbett,
Jordan Powell, and
Gwynn Thompson each recorded at least one RBI.
"We were able to do some good things on offensive and take advantage of our opportunities," Pride Head Coach
Jonathan Nichols stated following the game. "Our pitching staff did a good job of making good pitches to get out of trouble, but this was a total team win as everyone contributed."
The Pride pounded out fifteen hits in the game.

Andrew Toney each recorded three hits in the contest.
Brandon Soden and
Jordan Powell also chipped in two hits.
Freshman
Adam Murray (2-1) picked up the win on the mound after tossing just over five innings of play.
Dustin Minnick came to the mound in the sixth inning and was able to toss the final three and two thirds innings to pick up his first save of the season.
