LaGRANGE, GA – The Greensboro College Pride baseball team returned for game two of a three game set with the Panthers of LaGrange College on Friday afternoon. Greensboro jumped out to an early lead by could not hold on falling by a final score of 15-10.
Greensboro College got on the board first in the visiting half of the first inning of play. Following a Brandon Soden lead off single, Pride shortstop Jordan Powell plated Soden with a double to left field making the score 1-0 in favor of Greensboro.
Once the Pride established the 1-0 lead, LaGrange then knotted the score at 1-1 with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
The Pride was then able to retake the lead in the second inning of play. After Zach Neumeister and Andrew Toney reached base to start the inning, Andrew Hernandez regained the lead for Greensboro by scoring Toney to make the score 2-1 before taking a 3-1 lead into the bottom half of the second inning.
As the game progressed, the Panthers were able to take a 15-7 lead into the final inning of play. In the ninth inning, Greensboro was able to plate three runs but could not get any closer falling 15-10. The three runs in the ninth inning were courtesy of a long three run home run off the bat of Zach Neumeister down the right field line.
Josh Evans (4.2 IP) took the loss on the mound. Will McGuire, Austin Hardin, and Tyler Henderson also pitched in the contest.
Brandon Soden, Jordan Powell, and Zach Neumeister accounted for nine of Greensboro's sixteen hits in the game. Brian Robbett, Kyle Willard, and Andrew Hernandez combined for six other hits.
