Softball Splits Doubleheader Against William Peace

The Greensboro College softball team fell to William Peace University, 5-3, before rallying in the second game for a 9-8 win.

First Game

The Pacers never let up their lead 5-0 until the seventh inning when The Pride tried to make a comeback. Allyson Yeager hit a double scoring Madison Crisco followed by Jackie Nicholson hitting a homer scoring Yeager.

Dawn Harris took the loss for Greensboro giving up five runs on six hits while walking three batters.

 

Second Game

The Pride kept their scoring at zero until the fourth inning when Sarah Tompkins flew out to right field scoring Yeager. Kali Puckett then hit a double to score Tompkins.

The Pride kept the score rolling in the fifth inning when Yeager and Sarah Connolloy scored off Brittainy Rush's double. In the sixth inning, Hayley Rumley reached first on an error made by the short stop scoring Puckett.

Going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Pacers were leading at 8-6. Greensboro put up a good fight scoring three runs for the win. Evan Sherer scored off Puckett who got hit by a pitch, then Alexis Hall reaching on an error made by the shortstop scoring Tompkins and Kierstin McKenna.

Shelby Drummonds took the win for Greensboro pitching 1.1 innings only giving up one run off three hits.

The Pride are back in action tomorrow against Randolph at 1 adn 3 p.m. Both games will be played at the Boys and Girls Club Field.
