Men's Lacrosse Stumbles Against Guilford College on Wednesday Afternoon

GREENSBORO, NC – Blaine Wise and Denis Radcliffe each recorded two goal on Wednesday afternoon, but it was not enough for the Pride as they fell to Guilford College by a 17-6 mark.

Guilford came out of the gate fast scoring the first three goals of the opening period to take a 3-0 lead before the Pride was able to get on the board.

With just over six minutes to play in the first quarter, Pride newcomer Lamar Jelks got Greensboro to within two goals at 3-1 before Wise scored his first goal of the game to pull Greensboro to within one goal at 3-2 just one minute later.

Following the two goals by the Pride, Guilford capped off the opening period with two unawanserd goals to hold a five two lead after one period.

In the second period of play, the Quakers were able to extend their lead heading into the break to  11-3 despite a goal  by Radcliffe.

Coming out of the intermission period, Greensboro was able to put two more tallies on the board in the third segment of play. With 7:09 to play in the period, Blaine Wise found the back of the net with a unassisted goal before Radcliffe tallied his final goal of the game just fourty seconds later to pull Greensboro to within 11-3.

The Pride's Gianni Gonzalez scored the final goal of the night for Greensboro with 6:16 to play in the contest but it was not enough falling by the 17-6 score.

Cody Cunningham took the loss in the net for the Pride despite stoping 15 Guilford shots.

Wise and Radcliffe led the way for Greensboro with eight and six shots respectively in the game. Jervon Speller also recorded four shots. Gianni Gonzalez and Cody Cunningham each picked up five ground balls each.

With the loss, the Pride fall to 0-3 on the season. Greensboro is slated to return to action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome DeSales to Pride field. The game is set to get underway at 12:00 PM.
