GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro College Pride men's basketball team hosted the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesley College. The Pride came out of the gate slow and could not overcome the Bishops falling a final score of 94-85.
In the first half of play, the Pride faced their largest deficit of the half at 41-29. After falling behind by the twelve point margin, senior guard Will Griffin was able to put the Pride on his back scoring the final eight points of the half sending Greensboro into the break trailing 50-41.
Coming out of the halftime break, Wesleyan was able to add to their margin taking their largest lead of the game at 70-55 with just over eight minutes to play in the contest.
Greensboro was then able to chip away at the deficit. Chris Corbin pulled Greensboro to within twelve points at 72-60 following five straight points.
Later in the period, Edric Roberts pulled Greensboro to within six points but the Pride could not get any closer falling by the 94-85 margin.
"We were not able to duplicate our defense from our last outing," Pride Head Coach Bryan Galuski said following the game. "I was really disappointed in our effort tonight giving up 94 points in the game, but hats off to coach John Thompson and his team for the way they played."
Will Griffin had a game high 38 points while Simeon Howard and Edric Roberts added thirteen points.
With the loss, the Pride me fall to 14-9 overall and 7-5 in USA South Athletic Conference play. The Pride men will return to the court on Wednesday night when they welcome the Cougars of Averett University to town. The game is set to get underway at 5:30 PM.
