GREENSBORO, N.C- The Greensboro College Men's Lacrosse team fell in their home opener to Birmingham Southern, 8-5, earlier this afternoon.
In the first quarter of play, Greensboro threw 12 shots on goal but only two met the back of the cage. Denis Radcliffe scored both of the goals for The Pride to make it a tied 2-2 game.
Greensboro then scored one goal in the second quarter which came from the stick of Drew Farrell. Going into the half, the Panthers were in charge of the game with a 6-3 lead.
In the third quarter, Lamar Jelks scored the lone goal for Greensboro.
Greensboro couldn't take the game from the Panthers but they did lessen the deficit to 8-6. The last two goals scored for Greensboro were from Jervon Speller and Radcliffe.
For the game, The Pride took 41 shots and picked up 31 ground balls. Goalie Cody Cunningham made 13 saves in the cage for Greensboro.
The Pride will travel to play Va. Wesleyan on Saturday, February 21 for a start time of 1 p.m.
